About

My name is Marianne Promberger. I started using GNU/Linux while I was a PhD student in Psychology working with Jon Baron at the University of Pennsylvania. I’ve just started a post-doc position at the Centre for the Study of Incentives in Health at King’s College London.

This blog documents how I do things in Linux. I started it while using Xubuntu 6.06 on a Lenovo (IBM Thinkpad) X41. Quite a lot of the entries are related to specific software that is also available on Mac or Windows (Firefox, Emacs, LaTeX, R).

I am currently running Xubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty).

This blog is mainly intended to help me remember how I did things, but I try to give enough background explanation so that it might be of use to others looking for a solution to the same problems.

You can contact me by e-mailing my first name @ the domain of this blog.
